Ruaridh's professional rugby career spanned over 14 years, during which he showcased his talent with renowned teams such as Glasgow Warriors, Wasps, Harlequins, and the Scottish national team. His time on the field was marked by passion, dedication, and remarkable skill, qualities that he has seamlessly transferred to his next chapter in the drinks industry.
After hanging up his rugby boots, Ruaridh, alongside fellow rugby player Ryan Grant and their wives, Kirstin and Maxine, embarked on an entrepreneurial journey by founding The Garden Shed Drinks Co. This venture was not just a business endeavor but a significant learning curve, marking his initial foray into the beverage industry.
However, Ruaridh's deep-rooted passion for whisky steered him toward the legendary Glenturret Distillery. Joining Glenturret at a pivotal moment of acquisition and rebranding, he became part of a historic transformation at Scotland's oldest working distillery. At Glenturret, Ruaridh has been involved in various facets of the company, now focusing on the private client side of the business.
Ruaridh's story is one of adaptability, passion, and continuous learning. His unique perspective on transitioning from sports to business, especially in such a niche and culturally rich industry as whisky production, promises to offer invaluable insights to our attendees.
